Captain Barrett has been behind the wheel of a boat for the past 40+ years.

He started his experience fishing in and around the San Juan Islands and has traveled to Desolation Sound in British Columbia too many times to remember. He regularly travels to Alaska and down the West Coast on deliveries when not busy as a charter Captain on luxury yachts.

He lived on his boat for several years, has remodeled, upgraded and outfitted a number of boats.

He retired from the University of Washington in 2001, after a long and successful career as a department director in the health sciences.

After a short "telemedicine" private business adventure, he returned to the Northwest to get back involved with boating full time. He has spent time in the Gulf of Mexico working on boats and traveling in the Bahamas and the Virgin Islands.

He now spends his time divided between delivery from Alaska to California, providing new boat owner instruction, and charter work.

He has been a commodore of a yacht club and a consultant to boating groups and yachting organizations.

A love of the water and a desire to assist others in their yachting experiences are the driving forces that keep Captain Barrett very busy. At this point in his professional life, a marine career is about enjoyable experiences, working with fun people, and staying happy.
